Married my partner...
by writerpen inwe just got back from san francisco where we were married last week.
maybe some day gay couples won't have to travel 1,000 miles to get married, and their commitment of love will be recognized by society.
there will be no need to use code - my friend, my roommate - at the office, with neighbors, or with family when speaking about the person with whom you live your life.

by billie jean infirstly my thoughts are with anyone who lost loved ones in this terrible trajedy.
the other point i wanted to make was i remember the witnesses here only seeming to be bothered about 'the brothers' in new york at this time.
made me feel sick !

Even though it seems shocking that they would have this attitude, it shouldn't be. After all, they fully expect God to do much, much worse at any time. Their ideas of God and his plans for humanity make these terrorists and, for that matter, even Hitler, look like rank amateurs.

looking for opinions....would this have ANY success?
by The Oracle inlooking to try something a little different with my ongoing campaigns to free minds from the wt.. .
if this was sent to a few thousand jw's do you think any would respond?

Oracle and Mickey,
I think those are both good approaches. It's true that many won't listen, but what of those who will? If you even help one person it will be worth it. One of the things that bothered me when I was in, was the idea that God would kill so many that I knew to be good, decent people. That was one of several things that always rolled around in the back of my mind as a problem and eventually helped me see my way out. I'm sure others feel the same.
Several years before I left, I was approached by a former JW. He was a stranger to me, but I have often thought about him since I left the WT. He was not effective because he had such an arrogant and rude attitude, there was no way I would listen to anything he had to say, right or wrong. Of course, I now understand why he was so negative. It was, nevertheless, ineffective at the time. What I like about your approaches are that they are caring and humble. People are more likely to respond to that. Also, even if they don't listen now, you may be planting seeds for the future. I say go for it. And a variety of different approaches just means that you may appeal to different personalities. Good luck, and thanks for caring enough about others to try to reach out and help them.

Further apostasy in the WT; Sept 29 - Oct 5 Study article dissected.
by passwordprotected insept29-oct5 "jehovah will not leave his loyal ones" name jehovah is used 21 times, jesus is mentioned 3 times.
the fds is, of course, mentioned.
the verses in revelation say that the lord (who is ruling as king) would bring to ruin those not fearing his name.

"When faced with trials or apostate ideas or when carrying out challenging assignments, God's loyal ones can be confident of Jehovah's guidance and support."
Notice anything odd about that sentence? "God's loyal ones can be confident of Jehovah's guidance..." If Jehovah is God, and vice versa, why refer to them using two terms in the same sentence. Those loyal to God can expect Jehovah's guidance is what they're saying. Isn't the use of Jehovah redundant in that sentence? Did they have a 'Jehovah' quota to make up and threw it in there right at the end?The WT has always had a problem confusing what they call Jehovah's Organization (themselves) with Jehovah. I think it was a freudian slip.

(Matthew 7:1-5)
by John Doe in7 "stop judging that you may not be judged; 2 for with what judgment you are judging, you will be judged; and with the measure that you are measuring out, they will measure out to you.
3 why, then, do you look at the straw in your brothers eye, but do not consider the rafter in your own eye?
4 or how can you say to your brother, allow me to extract the straw from your eye; when, look!

Wouldn't it be nice if the WT followed such scriptural admonition!

OK which one of you knows Pete and Mary- my neighbors
by lrkr inwe had our lovely across the street neighbors over about a month ago.
somehow, after a little wine and margaritas, the subject got onto religions.
they asked what religion we are (a baited question- they've watched us pile into the car 3-5 times a week wearing a suit for a few years).

Also congratulations on making non-Witness friends. I've found that while there are challenges, rebuilding a life after the WT can be both fun and liberating.

Congratulations on publicly acknowledging being in the former Witness category! That's a freeing and healing step all on its own.

My wife has Paranoid Personality Disorder
by Witness 007 inmy wife accused me of putting sleeping pills in her tea so i could turn her best friend against her???
she says everyone at work is against her so one saturday she quit and went to another city {her mums}sydney to start a new life.....she found it to be alot more expensive so she asked me if she could come back.
i told her it's half her house and she can come and go as she wants.....then she asked me to buy her a plane ticket back since she blew her last paycheck {$900} on clothes and laser hair removal.

So sorry you're going through this. Since she seems to be close to her brother, is there a way you can work with members of her family to do some kind of intervention? If the people she trusts the most work together, maybe she will listen. Especially if she is reassured by everyone that they are concerned about her because they love her and want what's best for her. Either way, you may benefit by the support of others who love both of you. Also working with a counselor yourself for help on dealing with this could be useful. Only you can decide if that's best. I wish the best for you.

WOULD JW's READ THIS?
by Mickey mouse ini just posted this to oracle's thread but didn't want to hijack it so i thought i'd start my own.
i think emails are a potentially effective way of conveying information to jw's, they love firing them off to all their friends.
could we get some information in under the radar in this manner...?.

Mrs. Fiorini
I agree that most JW's don't realize that other groups also claim to be the sole channel of truth in the world. That came as a real shock to me when I left the WT.

Interesting article. I've decided to pig out tomorrow night on ice cream, just in case.
